Longshield_b

This is an oblong wooden shield used for personal defense in Combat.

Description

Longshields were ovals or rectangles of wood worn on the left forearm. They were reinforced with metal strips along the edges and a metal boss in the center. They could deflect swings and thrusts, and were large enough to cover most body parts of the user. They had decent durability. Longshields were used in melee combat by Roman auxiliaries and cavalry.

Longshield_b is a wood shield with an extended metal boss and rim. It is painted blue and has some decoration.

Usage

Equip the longshield in your inventory. It will appear on your left arm and provide protection when you block an attack. The quality will go down in combat.

To create

Longshields must be made indoors (see IndoorsCraftingProjects). When you are indoors, start a project to craft longshield_b, and add the following Components:

• 1 x metalbowl_a (60+ QL), EQUIP hammer_a, takes 60 minutae

  • (25+) smithing required.

• 6 x straight boards (85+ QL), EQUIP hammer_a, takes 45 minutae

  • (60+) carpentry required.

• 2 x nails (35+ QL), EQUIP hammer_a, takes 60 minutae

  • (60+) carpentry required.

• 1 x handle_b, EQUIP hammer_a, takes 24 minutae

  • (60+) carpentry required.
